Background:
His interest in stills photography started at the age of 12 when he purchased his first camera with Green Shield Stamps!
A few years later his father took him to see Stanley Kubrick`s `2001`, following which he sold his stills gear and bought himself a Super 8mm film camera.
After leaving school Ashley joined a small film unit in Southampton making training films for the COI.
Six years later he joined BBC Wales Film Unit as a camera assistant working on Drama’s and Documentaries and a few years later became a Lighting Film Cameraman with BBC Wales.
One of his BBC Drama’s was noticed by Chris Menges BSC who offered him the opportunity to light a Feature he was directing.
He has been freelance ever since shooting feature films.
