Stuart Bentley BSC's interest in art and photography started from a very young age. He got a second hand skateboard for his 13th Birthday and from then on his love of film, photography and travel had a real focus. As well as spending pretty much every minute of every day skateboarding, he and his friends started to film each other and make skate videos – shooting on Hi-8 and editing on two old VHS machines.
He studied photography and art at college whilst continuing to make skate films in his spare time. As he and his friends got better at skateboarding, his filming began to progress and he was soon travelling the world filming for various skate brands - he slowly began to branch out into music videos, short films and commercials.
As his love of film, photography and cinema developed he was eager to learn more about cinematography and went on to study at the National Film and Television School under Brian Tufano BSC.
Upon leaving the NFTS he continued to shoot music videos and commercials as well as feature films and TV Drama. Among the projects he has shot are the Oscar-winning short film "The Long Goodbye" as well as high-end dramas including Black Mirror, This Is England '90, We Live In Time and most recently Hamlet.
