MARTIN CURTIS BSC

Photographed many government sponsored documentaries with several directors between 1938 and 1956. His first feature was Brandy for the Parson (1952 Directed by John Eldridge, a documentary director Curtis had worked with several times). He continued in documentaries with sporadic features in between including The Secret Cave (1953 Directed by John Durst for the Children’s Film Foundation) and Pacific Destiny (1956 Directed by Wolf Rilla) after which he moved away from documentaries, which were losing their appeal and worked on a TV series called The Buccaneers (1956-57) and followed that with The Cool Mikado (1963 Directed by Michael Winner starring popular comedian Frankie Howerd). He came back to short subjects after shooting City of Fear (1965 Directed by Peter Bezencenet) mostly for charitable organisations. His last two credited shoots were for A Small Miracle (1976 for the National Kidney Research Fund) and another for The Malcolm Sargent Fund for Cancer Children, Suddenly Among Strangers (1981) both directed by Terry Bishop.
