GERALD GIBBS BSC

Began his career in 1928 as a camera assistant at Cricklewood Studios. Freelance Camera Operator from 1933 to 1953 but during this time he lit his first feature Don Chicago (1945 Directed by Maclean Rogers). Amongst his feature credits are films such as the notable Whisky Galore! (1949 Directed by Charles Frend) followed by the troubled Alice in Wonderland (1949 Directed by Dallas Bower) which was overshadowed by the Walt Disney version. To add injury to insult, it was not released in the United Kingdom until 1985 due to the possibly offensive caricature of Queen Victoria. Other features followed such as: The Straw Man (1953 Directed by Don Taylor), Station Six Sahara (1963 Directed by Seth Holt) and The Leather Boys (1964 directed by Sidney J. Furie),

By 1956 he began to shoot for television series such as: The Adventures of Robin Hood (1955-56) and The Avengers (1968-69).
