ARTHUR GRANT BSC

His first credit for camera operating was for His Lordship (1932 Directed by Michael Powell). He subsequently worked alongside Geoffrey Faithfull BSC for several pictures directed by Powell, then alongside cinematographer, James Wilson and in 1946 photographed Geoffrey Faithfull’s second outing as director I’ll Turn to You after which he became a fully fledged Director photography shooting 101 credits throughout his career.

In 1957, he joined Hammer Productions and became their most prolific cinematographer succeeding Jack Asher BSC. His films for Hammer included The Abominable Snowman (1957 Directed by Val Guest), The Terror of the Tongs (1961 Directed by Anthony Bushell), Shadow of the Cat (1961 Directed by John Gilling), The Curse of the Werewolf (1961 Directed by Terence Fisher), The Phantom of the Opera (1962 Directed by Terence Fisher), The Plague of the Zombies (1966 Directed by John Gilling), Frankenstein Created Woman (1967 Directed by Terence Fisher) and The Devil Rides Out (1968 Directed by Terence Fisher) among others. In between he photographed a number of low budget films and TV movies.

His final film was Demons of the Mind (Directed by Peter Sykes) for Hammer Productions in 1972.
