WILLIAM STANLEY GRANT BSC

Stanley Grant was a special effects expert. As a cinematographer during the 1930s he worked mainly on quota quickies beginning with Under Proof (1936 Directed by Roland Gillett) for 20th Century Fox . In the 1940s he was employed on more prestigious films such as In Which We Serve  (1942 Directed by Noel Coward & David Lean, photographed by Ronald Neame), Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s A Matter of Life and Death (1946 Photographed by Jack Cardiff), Carol Reed’s Odd Man Out (1947 Photographed by Robert Krasker BSC) and David Lean's Oliver Twist (1948 photographed by Guy Green BSC). He was also aerial cinematographer on Angels One Five (1952 Directed by George More O’Farrell, photographed by Chris Challis BSC). His last credit is for cinematography of the religious film John Wesley (1954 Directed by Norman Walker).
