Began photographing features in 1934 and moved into documentaries and travelogues by 1938 on subjects as diverse as Egypt, Singapore, Australia, India, South Africa, Denmark, Spain, Germany, etc., interspersed with low-budget features. His last credit is for The Finest Hours (1964 directed by Peter Baylis) - A biography of Winston Churchill, shown through re-creations and actual film footage and told by Orson Welles with voice-overs by the listed actors for the recreated scenes.
He emigrated to Australia.
