ARTHUR LAVIS BSC

Arthur Lavis was born in Plymouth, Devon, England. During WWII he was a fighter pilot.

He began his career as a cinematographer with low-budget “B” features such as the Edgar Lustgarten series of police crime stories mostly shot at Merton Park.

Among his other credits are films such as Witchcraft (1964) directed by Don Sharp, The Earth Dies Screaming (1964) directed by Terence Fisher, The Penthouse (1967) directed by Peter Collinson, Up The Junction (1968) directed by Peter Collinson, Hold On, It’s The Dave Clark Five (1968) directed by Dave Clark as well as TV series such as Journey to the Unknown (1968-69 – 5 episodes), Catweazle (1971 – 5 episodes) and The Losers (1978 – 6 episodes) directed by Joe McGrath.

Amongst his other work was second unit on Michael Mann’s The Keep (1983) photographed by Alex Thomson.

His last credit is for Ten Little Indians (1989) directed by Alan Birkinshaw.
