At the BSC Summer Lunch on Sunday 15th July 2018 we announced the winner of the 'BSC Best Cinematography in a Theatrical Release Award 2017'
The Golden Camera went to Roger Deakins CBE ASC BSC for his photography on 'Bladerunner 2049'
Roger also received an Oscar and a Bafta this year for Blade Runner 2049 and we are absolutely delighted that he has been recognised for his outstanding work.
Huge congratulations to him and also the nominees.
Roger was unable to attend the lunch this year so Billy Williams OBE BSC read his acceptance speech.
"To say I am chuffed would be an understatement!!!!! I am so sorry I am not there in person as I remember the Summer Luncheon as being the best of times.
‘Blade Runner 2049’ was a challenge like no other so to have my work and the work of my wonderful team recognized by the BSC means a great deal to me. And the film really was a team effort. A team that included members from the UK, the US, from Hungary, from Italy, Germany, Australia, Canada and more. Everyone gave their all and I think we all enjoyed the journey. Just as it should be!
Again, thank you all so very much and a happy Sunday to you.”
Roger
