British Cinematographer Magazine

The BSC is most saddened at the recent dispute between the directors and editorial staff at British Cinematographer Magazine and Laws Publishing Ltd.

For the avoidance of doubt, the BSC has no direct control over the way in which Laws Publishing Ltd. chooses to run the magazine and has played no part in the unfortunate events which occurred recently without warning, and which could not have been foreseen by the BSC.

The BSC has endeavoured to bring both sides together and to act as an impartial mediator, and the BSC has always desired that both parties reach an amicable solution to their dispute.

Unfortunately, Alan Lowne and Ron Prince have decided to leave the company and the magazine and we wish them well in their future endeavours.

British Cinematographer is a globally admired magazine covering the interests of Cinematographers, operators, crew and associated crafts in a way that is very much aligned with the BSC’s interests.

That the magazine’s success was largely a result of Alan and Ron’s influence is beyond dispute, and we very much hope that their legacy will be continued and built on by Laws Publishing Ltd. as they move forward with a new editor.

The BSC continues to support British Cinematographer Magazine and will take a keen interest in how the magazine develops with its new team.
