In Los Angeles James Friend ASC BSC picked up the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his incredible work on the Netflix film "All Quiet On The Western Front". This follows on from James' wins at the BSC Awards and BAFTAs.
Speaking on stage he thanked his parents for "Letting him join the circus which is the Film industry". James is the 28th BSC winner in this category, joining fellow winners Roger Deakins ASC BSC, Billy Williams BSC and Chris Menges BSC.
All Quiet On The Western Front won in total 4 Oscars including International Feature Film, Production Design and Original Score. The Oscar for Best Picture went to Larkin Seiple lensed "Everything Everywhere All At Once" which won 7 Oscars in total.
