John Bailey ASC | 10-8-42 - 10-11-23

We were very sad to hear about the recent passing of John Bailey ASC, who was 81 and began working in the camera department in 1971. He became a cinematographer in 1978 and photographed films such as Groundhog Day, The Big Chill and In the Line of Fire. 

During his time as an ASC member, John served as a Secretary and a Vice President. He was also a former academy President. 

He is the recipient of 3 Lifetime Achievement Awards. Ojai Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, the ASC in 2015 and more recently at EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival in 2019. 

John is survived by his wife Carol Littleton, who is an Oscar-nominated film editor and former Academy governor.
