My documentary experience included the conflict zones in the Middle East for The LONGEST WAR (1983); Ulster for THE TROUBLES (1981); and for ‘This Week’, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Guatemala. Also THE WOMEN OF CHINA (1980) among many other documentaries.
From 1988 I increasingly found myself photographing film series for the BBC and ITV including DEMOB, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, INVASION EARTH, THE AMBASSADOR and NANCHERROW. Also among others, episodes of SEAFORTH, POIROT, TRIAL AND RETRIBUTION, ROBIN HOOD and FRIENDS IN THE NORTH (BAFTA nomination, shared).
I have also enjoyed photographing many single films including ENDING UP, ANCHOR ME, BACK HOME, INCIDENT IN JUDAEA, TRIAL BY FIRE, DEAD GORGEOUS, SOUL SURVIVORS and THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA.
Particularly memorable for me have been the films I photographed for the director Aisling Walsh (BAFTA winner) including, FINGERSMITH , DAMAGE, DAISY CHAIN and SINNERS for which I won an Irish Academy Best Photography Award and RTS nomination for Best Photography
