CHRIS SEAGER BSC
Chris began his journey in the movie/television industry in the autumn of 1968 at Guildford School of Art where he successfully studied Film and TV. He joined the BBC in 1973 as a ‘Technical Operations Trainee’ on studio TV cameras at BBC Television Centre. Three years later, he moved to the historic Ealing Film Studios to become an Assistant Cameraman with the BBC Television Film Department. In its ‘heyday’ the film department employed over 65 staff Camera Crews. Chris was promoted to Film Cameraman in 1984. In his formative years as a Cinematographer he shot many critically acclaimed documentaries
[40 Minutes, Arena] and then moved into TV Movies and Drama Series and enjoyed shooting Screen ONE and Screen TWO dramas which included a BAFTA and Prix Italia winner SKALLAGRIGG. In the summer of 1994, he completed the shooting of director John Schlesinger’s applauded movie COLD COMFORT FARM and soon after resigned from the BBC to become a freelance Cinematographer.
Chris has lensed many Movies and TV Dramas as a freelance Cinematographer. His popular ‘period dramas’ have included Amazon’s Carnival Row, TNT/Paramount’s The Alienist, Starz’s The White Princess, HBO’s Game of Thrones, BBC TV’s The Way We Live Now, Call the Midwife, The Young Visiter, Hamlet, Archangel and ABC TV’s musical Galavant.
His ‘contemporary dramas’ include director David Yates three award winning dramas, State of Play, Sex Traffic and The Girl in the Café, along with other notable dramas such as Five Daughters, The Hour andUndercover.
His many international movie credits have notably included Beautiful Thing, Fever Pitch, the successful box office ‘horror flic’ White Noise, the British kids action movie Stormbreaker, Paul Schrader’s political thriller The Walker, teen comedy Wild Child and romantic comedy New in Town. He teamed up with Michael Keaton who starred and directed the well received The Merry Gentleman.
Chris has also collaborated with director Andy Goddard on three movies,
Set Fire to the Stars, A Kind of Murder and Six Minutes to Midnight.
Chris was invited by his peers and proposer Robin Vidgeon in 1996 to become a full member of the prestigiousBritish Society of Cinematographers [BSC].
