BSC Summer Lunch 2019

“It was a joy, as ever, to welcome patrons, fellow cinematographers, industry colleagues and family and friends, to the Pinewood Studios ballroom for the 2019 Summer Lunch.

The Summer Lunch has a particular and special atmosphere since it brings together colleagues and comrades - as well as husbands, wives and partners - in a relaxed and convivial setting.

This year, the generosity of our industry was reflected in the auctioning of special edition photograph print organised by Mark Purvis of Mission Digital which was created by Seamus McGarvey which quickly generated a winning bid of £2,500, plus another donation raising a total of £4,000.

Mark from Mission said -

Mission is ecstatic to announce that the #printsformark fundraising on behalf of the Mark Milsome Foundation has reached a new level of success.

With the auction almost as exciting as England’s win over New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup, the image donated by Seamus McGarvey reached £4000 for the organisation. The generosity from Jon Fry at CVP and James Friend ASC BSC resulted in two images being printed for their new respective owners.

‘We are over the moon with the money we have been able to raise hitting a total now in excess of six thousand pounds. We are looking forward to working with new Cinematographers and creating a range of images at more accessible prices for all crew to own and continue the success of the charity’

There was also pleasure in awarding full BSC membership status to Chloe Thomson, a cinematographer of prodigious talent who, I am sure, will be a credit to the Society in the future and an inspiration to other women pursuing the cinematographic path”. Nanu Segal BSC was also invited to the membership but unfortunately unable to attend.
