2023 BSC Cinematography In A Feature Film Nominees

 

NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 68TH BRITISH SOCIETY OF CINEMATOGRAPHERS (BSC) CINEMATOGRAPHY IN A FEATURE FILM AWARD

LONDON, UK – The British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) today announced the nominations for Cinematography in a Feature Film as part of the 68th Annual British Society of Cinematographers Awards.

 

The nominees in alphabetical order are:

 

  • KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON (Apple Original Films) – Rodrigo Prieto ASC AMC, Cinematographer
  • MAESTRO (Netflix) – Matthew Libatique ASC, Cinematographer
  • OPPENHEIMER (Universal Pictures) – Hoyte van Hoytema ASC FSF NSC, Cinematographer
  • POOR THINGS (Searchlight Pictures) – Robbie Ryan BSC ISC, Cinematographer
  • SALTBURN (Warner Bros./Amazon MGM) – Linus Sandgren ASC FSF, Cinematographer

 

This is the third nomination for Rodrigo Prieto, he was previously nominated in 2019 for The Irishman and 2007 for Babel. This is the second nomination for Matthew Libatique, he was previously nominated in 2010 for his work on Black Swan. This is the first nomination for Hoyte van Hoytema. This is Robbie Ryan’s second nomination, he was previously nominated in 2018 for his work on The Favourite. This is Linus Sandgren’s third nomination, he was nominated in 2016 for La La Land and 2018 for First Man.

The BSC award for “Cinematography In A Feature Film” is the second oldest award issued for Cinematography (behind the Academy Award®). Last year’s recipient, James Friend ASC BSC for All Quiet on the Western Front went on to win both the Oscar and BAFTA.

Previous winners of the award include Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Doctor Zhivago (1965), Fiddler on the Roof (1971), Gandhi (1982), The Killing Fields (1984), Schindler’s List (1993) and American Beauty (1999).
