A record 11 films shot by BSC members will be shown at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Among the films premiering at the festival is the Oscar-favoured We Live In Time, directed by John Crowley and shot by Stuart Bentley BSC. The film stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh and tells the story of Almut and Tobias who are brought together by a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Mike Leigh and Dick Pope BSC are returning to Toronto with their latest film Hard Truths starring Oscar-nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The film is described as an ongoing exploration of the contemporary world with a tragicomic study of human strengths and weaknesses.

The Cut directed by Sean Ellis BSC and shot by Sean makes its debut at Toronto. The film which starts Orlando Bloom in a transformative role tells the story of a A retired boxer returns to the ring for one last shot at the title but only if he can make the weight. Holed up in a room in Las Vegas he embarks on an intensive and illegal weight cut program with an unscrupulous trainer. Giles Nuttgens BSC has two films premiering at Toronto! Relay stars Oscar-winner Riz Ahmed as a broker of lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten them, who breaks his own rules when a new client seeks his protection to stay alive. The second film is The Friend, starring Naomi Watts is a film about love, friendship, grief and healing and a writer who adopts a Great Dane that belonged to a late friend and mentor.

Cannes winner, The Substance directed by Coralie Fargeat and shot by Ben Kracun BSC will be arriving in Toronto as part of the Midnight Madness screening session. The film which starts Demi Moore and Dennis Quaid tells the story of a fading celebrity decides to use a black market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself. Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) brings his latest feature to Toronto - an adaption of Stephen King's The Life of Chuck. The Life of Chuck is shot by Eben Bolter ASC BSC and is described as "A life-affirming, genre-bending story based on Stephen King's novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz." Oscar-trailblazing Cinematographer Rachel Morrison ASC brings her directorial debut to Toronto - The Fire Inside shot by our own Rina Yang BSC. The film is the story of Claressa 'T-Rex' Shields, a boxer from Flint, Michigan who trained to become the first woman in her country's history to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport. Better Man, an original musical from director Michael Gracey and shot by Erik Alexander Wilson BSC will also be premiering at TIFF. The film features music from singer Robbie Williams who also stars in the film.

Rounding up the films are Without Blood, the latest film from Angelina Jolie which was shot by Seamus McGarvey ASC BSC ISC. The plot is still being kept under-wraps but with a lead performance from Salma Hayak we can expect it to be a really strong film! Following on from Cannes we have Bird, directed by Oscar-winning director Andrea Arnold and shot by Robbie Ryan BSC ISC. Bird stars Barry Keoghan and tells the story of Bailey, who lives with her brother Hunter and her father Bug. Bug doesn't have much time to devote to them and so Bailey looks for attention and adventure elsewhere.
