BSC Short Film Winners Announced

 

The winners of the 2025 British Society of Cinematographers Short Film Competition have been announced. At a special screening in London hosted by Tim Sidell BSC and Ula Pontikos BSC the nine nominated films were screened to an audience of over 100 people. 

Joining us was Thomas Urbye of The Look London and Natasza Chroscicki of Arri who sponsored the event and helped us open up the envelopes to announce the winners.

  • ALMA - Jack Palladino Hebditch, Cinematographer (University of Portsmouth)
  • DOGBONE - Theo Hughes, Cinematographer (University of Salford) - WINNER
  • JAMES PEARSON-HOWES: SITTING STILL - Trey Joél Robinson, Cinematographer (University of the Arts London)

CINEMATOGRAPHY IN A SHORT FILM (POSTGRADUATE STUDENT)

  • EL CORAZÓN - Christopher Hudson, Cinematographer (National Film and Television School) - WINNER
  • TETHERED - Emmy Ren, Cinematographer (National Film and Television School)
  • WATCH ME BURN - Jonathon Le Grice, Cinematographer (National Film and Television School)

CINEMATOGRAPHY IN A SHORT FILM (BSC CLUB)

  • FLOCK - Linda Wu, Cinematographer - WINNER
  • GESUALDO - Yiannis Manolopoulos, Cinematographer
  • TWAIN - Chris Clarke, Cinematographer

 

Theo Hughes, Christopher Hudson and Linda Wu win a 5-day camera hire package courtesy of Arri and a days post-production courtesy of The Look. In addition Theo, Christopher and Linda will be invited to the 70th British Society of Cinematographers Awards on the 7th February 2026 where they will receive their official BSC Awards.
